Brooke Russell - Jazz Singer
A fresh new voice on the jazz scene, Brooke Russell is a singer to watch out for. Combining standards, blues and Latin repertoire with ‘jazzy’ versions of great contemporary tunes, Brooke’s inventive delivery and smoky sound is unique and her warm presence on stage brings an intimacy to her performances.
Brooke is influenced by the great jazz vocalists such as Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and Anita O’Day as well as singer/songwriters Nina Simone, Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright. She is also inspired by instrumentalists such as Miles Davis, Dexter Gordon, Brad Mehldau, John Scofield and Oscar Peterson.
Originally classically trained on the guitar, Brooke has performed as a guitarist in venues all over Perth as well as clubs and festivals in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands before she stepped out from behind the guitar and established herself as a jazz vocalist.
Brooke is available from duo to quintet combinations.
