Adam Brockway
Co-founder of Ambrosia Ensembles
After learning piano for a short time, Adam began studying the violin at the age of 6. In 2003, he won the WAYO scholarship and joined the WAYO Philharmonic, which he co-lead for two years before moving onto the West Australian Youth Orchestra itself in 2005. In 2006 he graduated from Perth Modern School and received the award for the Most Outstanding Instrumental Student, as well as the Dettman Scholarship.
Since leaving high school, Adam has joined and started multiple ensembles, primarily in the area of voice. He became a member of both the WA Youth Chorale and Vocal Evolution in 2007, (the latter in which he is both a singer and the Associate Musical Director). Together with a colleague he formed the all male A Capella quartet 3 Men & A Tenor and Kismet, an SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) quartet. 3 Men & A Tenor recently competed at the National Barbershop Convention in Hobart where they won the bronze medal in the open contest, were voted the audience favourite and most improved quartet of the competition. They were also awarded the gold medal in the National Youth Quartet contest. Adam plays violin in Panforte, a string trio and soprano combination, and in the Hyde String Quartet.
In the first year of his degree at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, he won the Faith Court Award for "the most outstanding first year violinist". Adam is currently in the final year at WAAPA, and upon completing his Bachelor of Music (Violin Performance Major) Adam plans to further develop his choral conducting skills at the Kodály Institute in Hungary.
