Elizabeth Edwards

Elizabeth has studied singing since the age of 11. Initially aiming to pursue a career in musical theatre, Elizabeth discovered that her voice was much more suited to classical and opera during high school. Whilst attending St. Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls, she was very much involved in the extra curricular music program, taking lessons in voice, clarinet, piano, double bass and bass guitar. As a member of the Chorale and Barbershop, she performed in a number of combined concerts with Christchurch Grammar School and was given the opportunity to be the Soprano Soloist in Vivaldi's Gloria (2006) and selections from The Messiah (2007). She also appeared as the Soprano Soloist in the Combined Anglican Schools Evensong held at St. George's Cathedral in 2007.

Elizabeth was also a member of the Symphony and String Orchestras and the Jazz Band. In her final year at St. Hilda's she was voted House Arts Captain and was awarded the Smalpage Watson Prize for Contribution to Music, the Taryn Fiebig Vocal Cup and the Joy Shepherd Music Festival Shield.

Elizabeth has just finished her second year of a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) studying under Linda Barcan. During her time at the Academy, she has performed as a Soprano Soloist in Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle (2009) and as Sister Gertrude in Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites (2009). Elizabeth will appear in upcoming performances with WAAPA in 2010, including a selection of Gilbert & Sullivan directed by acclaimed opera and musical theatre director Stuart Maunder. Elizabeth will complete her Bachelor degree in 2010 before commencing further post-graduate study in Australia. She then hopes to pursue a career internationally.
