Shameem Taheri-Lee

Shameem Taheri-Lee is an exciting, up and coming jazz vocalist, with a fresh and invigorating style. She is equally at ease singing soulful ballads, swinging jazz standards or sultry Brazilian grooves.

Shameem has been performing professionally since 2004 and has become a familiar name on the Perth jazz scene. She has performed numerous times at Perth’s various jazz clubs – the Ellington Jazz Club, Perth Jazz Society, the Jazz Club of WA and Jazz Fremantle. She has also performed at many popular music and entertainment venues all around Perth, including the Perth Concert Hall and the Subiaco Arts Centre. Shameem has held an eight-month weekly residency at The Publican Bar and Restaurant in Victoria Park and currently holds a weekly residency at Palais 85 in South Perth.

Shameem enjoys performing in anything from an intimate duo setting to a swinging, energetic jazz quartet or quintet. Her band members are hand-picked from among the finest jazz musicians in Perth.

Earlier this year, Shameem was chosen as one of the finalists for the prestigious James Morrison Jazz Vocal Scholarship. She has recently completed her studies in jazz composition at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), where she won the Hawaiian Award for Outstanding Achievement in her class. Shameem recently released her first CD, “Universe for Afternoon Tea.”
